    The occurrence of angular misalignment may alter the stiffness characteristics of angular contact ball bearing (ACBB),
    especially when the bearing operates under high-speed condition. To treat the dynamical contact between ball and raceway,
    the raceway control theory, was commonly adopted, which simplifies the relative motion between the ball and raceways.
    However, the effect of raceway control hypothesis on stiffness behavior of ACBB under misalignment has not been
    discussed. This paper rigorously evaluated how the ball and raceway contact assumption affects the bearing stiffness. To
    this end, a mathematical model was developed by taking into account various ball-raceway contact conditions. The model
    is able to provide the bearing stiffness under angular misalignment and high-speed conditions. Then, simulations were
    performed to investigate the effect of the raceway control theory based contact condition on the stiffness characteristics of
    the ACBB. The simulation results showed the dependence of stiffness characteristics on the raceway contact condition with
    regard to angular misalignment. Finally, this paper discussed the feasibility of ACBB modeling without adopting the
    raceway control theory
