    In tissue engineering, cell adhesion to a surface plays an important role in cell spreading, migration, function and further tissue regeneration. We developed artificial extracellular matrix, mussel adhesive protein (MAP), to promote cell adhesion and proliferation. We studied previously that MAP enhanced cell attachment, proliferation and differentiation in 2D culture. But the effect of MAP on cell adhesion to 3D scaffold for tissue engineering has not been known. We fabricated poly-capro1actone (PCL)/poly-lactic-co-g1ycolic acid (PLGA) scaffolds by solid free-fonn fabrication (SFF) technology. We examined the cell behavior using human adipose derived stem cells on MAP coated scaffold. These results indicate that MAP and MAP-RGD coated scaffolds enhance cell adhesion, proliferation and differentiation compared with non-coated scaffold. We expect that MAP has potential as cell adhesion material by enhancing cell adhesion on the surface of tissue engineering scaffold.
