본 연구소는 강철 구조와 내진 설계의 분야에서 공학 연구를 수행하는 곳이다. 2003 년 실험실의 개통 이후, 산업과 정부에서 다양한 프로젝트를 실시하고 있다. 요즘 연구의 영역 확대 및 화재 디자인과 연쇄 붕괴 등 많은 관련 주제는 10개 이상의 대학원 학생들이 공부하고 있다. 실험 및 분석을 모두 연구의 효율성과 실질적인 영향을 극대화하기 위해 연구진행 중이다.
