Dennis a Lecturer in the Computer Systems Laboratory which spans the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments at Stanford University. He has held a lectureship position since 1976. He was a founder, with Bob Albrecht, of the People Is Computer Company, a California non-profit that played a pivotal role in the development of personal computers. He has been active in both ACM and IEEE. He was a past IEEE CS Governing Board member and a past member of the editorial boards of IEEE Computer and IEEE Software. Currently he serves on the Advisory Board for the Cool Chips Conference held in Japan each Spring.
