ABSTRACT	ESDU Aero F.02.01.06 has been superseded by ESDU 87005 but is retained because it is used in the worked examples of ESDU 81013, 82011 and 84002. ESDU 87005 is based on much more recent test information and should always be used to find the profile drag increment due to the deployment of a single-slotted flap on an aerofoil or an unswept tapered wing with full-span flap; the data may be corrected to apply to a part-span flap in an arbitrary spanwise position using the factors given by ESDU F.02.01.07. No treatment for sweep effects is suggested in ESDU 87005 but in the absence of better information the treatment suggested in ESDU Aero F.02.01.06 may be used and is supported by more recent data analysed in ESDU 87024.
